The specific shape is defined by zoning laws of St. Petersburg. The maximum allowable height of the site is 28 m on the waterfront and 33 m in the depth of the block. In order to reach the maximum at one corner the facade gradually bends into the depth of the site. The trick makes the building prominent and predominate on tharea while zoning laws are complied. As a result the waterfront facade gets bizarre and spectacular surface.
The window rhythm is changing as far as the frontage bends. On the one corner the window grid is simple and strict. On the other irregular and extruded. The rectangular grid of windows breaks with the increasing inclination of the facade and change it's scale. This technique expresses the principle of gradual response of environmental conditions around the building.
